A reality TV show and a tour with Motley Crüe have kept singer/drummer Tommy Lee busy since the August debut of his CD, "TommyLand, the Ride", which was released in conjunction with the show "Tommy Lee Goes to College."

Fans of Motley Crüe may not be enticed by his latest more-pop-than-rock endeavor, but it clearly demonstrates that Tommy Lee can venture out of his rock drummer box.

"TommyLand, the Ride" features tunes infused with rock and pop and lyrics about love and being a celebrity.

"The Ride" starts off featuring Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction with the upbeat "Good Times," a carefree song about escaping to a fun place where "... the good times roll."

Lee shows that he can do more than just scream with songs such as "Hello Again." It features Something Corporate's Andrew McMahon assisting in vocals as Lee sings about rediscovery and seeing the importance of the ones you love.

Nick Carter joins Lee on "Say Goodbye," a perfectly orchestrated acoustic song about getting rid of emotional baggage while traveling through life. Their voices blend perfectly in the chorus.

The CD also offers classic no-holds-barred Lee with "Tired," featuring Good Charlottes' Joel Madden. "Tired" makes fun of celebrity relationships, particularly his split with Pamela Anderson. It also describes both Sean Combs and Ben Afleck got tiring of Jennifer Lopez

The only negative about is track number five which is 37 seconds of an English butler delivering an answering machine message. It is basically a waste of time.

The CD ends with an acoustic version of "Hello, Again" which reinforces the insight that Lee has vocal talent.

"The Ride" proves that Lee can write, play drums, sing vocals and co-produce an album that is entirely his own.

"Tommyland, the Ride" is a CD to jam to in the car with the volume turned all the way up.
