Citrus played the host to an array of high school students looking to take the first step towards college.
The second annual Orientation Workshop hosted by Citrus College on April 19 showcased a number of Citrus' departments such as Counseling, Transfer, Cosmetology, and some of the clubs such as Alpha Gamma Sigma.
The purpose of the event was to give eager high school students wanting to make the transition from high school to college the chance to learn about the registration process and see what college life has to offer.
Nearly 300 students from area schools attended: Azusa, Gladstone, Glendora, Bishop Amat, Sierra, Claremont, St. Lucy's, Oak Knoll, Charter Oak, Arcadia, Duarte, Arrow, Pomona and Options for Learning high schools.
This is a really important time, going from high school to college and it can be scary," said Sylvia Pinedo.
"This orientation was an excellent way for the high school students to get information on applying. Having the parents get involved as well was a great sight," Pinedo said.
Vincent Delgado, 17, from San Dimas High School, came to the event wanting to know how to layout his ideas for college.
"I have already filled out my application. Basically I want to know how to plan for the next two years," Vincent said.
"I feel that Citrus will be able to deliver what I want to achieve academically," Delgado.
"My son and I both learned a lot," said Delgado's mother, Denise.
"In the 20 minutes we have been here, we really learned a lot about the registration process," said Vincent's mom.
