Reality TV, love it, hate it, Citrus College hosts it.
A Lifetime television crew arrived to campus to film a segment of their new reality show "You're Not the Man I Married" between 9 a.m. and noon on Wednesday April 20.
The show, which acts as a wakeup call to husbands everywhere is about couples in love, but who have grown apart.
"They aren't bad husbands, just sometimes in a relationship you forget the little things," said show producer Nick Diaz, "Hopefully it helps husbands realize not to stop making the effort."
The show which premiers June 6th on the Lifetime Channel, was at Citrus filming the fourth show or their 13 show contract.
The episode centers on husband Terry Krieger, a partner in a law firm with his wife Linda in Longbeach.
Krieger's wife filled out an application for the show, and he agreed to do the interview. After long hours, and hundreds of interviews from the agency, Krieger was told that he had made the final cut, but they didn't know if he would get to be on the show or not.
Little did he know that he would soon be ambushed at work and taken away to set off on a series tasks to help him better himself as a husband.
Sometimes short with people, judgmental and often impatient, Krieger's task while here at Citrus was to work together with his wife's best friend Dawn.
Krieger sat in the shade with producer Diaz, while the crew set up hundreds of Domino's for a second shot of his task.
Designed to build patience Krieger and Dawn must work together in a task with the Domino's.
Citrus was chosen as the location for the shoot because of the cooperation from the campus.
Assignment producers picked the college based on management, and location.
Previously in Irwindale at a rock quarry, Krieger's task was the game of "Prove It, or Lose It!"
"We plucked 5 of his favorite things that take time away from his wife and set up a game show," said Diaz. "We then asked him questions, and if he got them wrong we launched them into the quarry. He only got 1 question right so we launched clothes, golf clubs, and even a $6,000 bike."
Hoping to learn something from the experience, Krieger wished "the show and life will steer me in the right direction."
Show host Shayla Rivera, a stand up comedian who previously worked for NASA explains the show at the simple ABC's: Awareness Begins Change.
"We prefer people who are intelligent and who still love each other," Rivera said, "It's not a show to resolve marital differences, just teasing the husband."
Krieger who has been married to his wife for 12 years said, "Its hard to find time to focus on each other when we are being kept apart."
The couple has two daughters, four-year-old Justine, and seven-year-old Hayley, who says the show is "so he can be romantic."
"Its not important to know little details, knowing a person is knowing a person on the inside," Krieger said.
The show, which will soon be flying to Boston to film another episode wished to thank citrus, "We are grateful of the campus, thanks!"
