Now-a-days just watching a great Super Bowl is not enough. Throw in a few drunken relatives, family friends that wont leave you alone, and parents that think they know everything about football, and you have the makings of one great time.
Besides the festivities and celebration, this years Super Bowl, in my opinion, did not disappoint.
Super Bowl XXXIX was a very balanced and entertaining game.
Most people would probably disagree with me and say the game was boring and just wouldn't end, but I am a big fan of a defensive game with big plays scattered throughout. It is much more intense.
Even though I wanted the Eagles to pull out the upset victory, I still have to give a ton of credit to the New England Patriots for winning their third Lombardi trophy in four years.
Only one other team in NFL history has accomplished that feat, the 90's Cowboys led by Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith.
It's unbelievable how Bill Belichick has turned the franchise from a last place team with no Super Bowl aspirations to the next football dynasty.
The past three Super Bowls that the Pat's have been in have all been very close and well played.
Its unbelievable that the Patriots have won their three championships all by a margin of victory of three points.
I still could have gone for another Adam Vinatieri game winning field goal as time expired, but the Pat's picking McNabb on the final drive of the game was just about as exciting as it can get.
McNabb's interception at the end of the game summed up the night for McNabb and the Eagles.
They managed to turn the ball over 4 times and that as well as bad clock management is what was the deciding factor in the end.
The only Eagle that shined was Terrell Owens who as of a couple of days earlier was not even sure if he was going to play due to the fact he had two screws in his ankle after he fractured it 6 weeks ago.
In my opinion his performance alone in his condition should have been good enough to win the game's MVP award.
The Patriots offense led by Tom Brady, Corey Dillon, and Deion Branch did what they had to scoring 24 points to edge out the 21 that the Eagles put up.
But is this the end of the Patriots dynasty?
They will be losing both coordinators, Charlie Wise and Romeo Crennel, both who are leaving for head coaching jobs elsewhere.
And the thought of a third championship in a row with aging players and the free agent market is hard to comprehend.
But yet again, whenever you seem to doubt the Pats they seem to prove everyone wrong.
I guess we will just have to see next year.
