Associated Students of Citrus College is primarily funded through the student services fee that students pay at registration, and ASCC has a budget of $513,200 for the 2004-2005 fiscal year.
Most of the budget is spent on the same specific categories each year, which include such things as athletics and campus improvements. These will benefit and serve the students over a span of many years.
In addition to this, ASCC has kindly set aside a hefty $30,000, which is to be disperse between the Citrus student activities and student clubs needs.
Not just any individual student may apply for funds and not every group will get ASCC funding.
For your special activity or club to receive funding, you must present your need before a team of ASCC students.
If you and your group are able to make a first-rate impression before the team of ASCC students, you will have a chance at being fully funded, partially funded, or not funded at all.
Maybe, in the past, you have thought that ASCC has allotted money to campus activities that were less deserving than your group was.
The difference is that some students actually get up the energy and the courage to apply for the funds. You can do this too by simply putting forth the effort to apply.
If you are finding your group in need of aid, take advantage of this luxury that ASCC provides.
However,ASCC should be thought of as a serious financial backup, and not just a campus ATM.
ASCC does take into consideration how much fund-raising you have already done and how many students will be benefited by funding.
If your club car-wash or group bake sale did not make enough money to serve your program's expenses, you can make an exciting presentation before the student members of the ASCC government here at Citrus College.
You also need to make sure that your group gives the executive board about a month or more of advance notice to look over your request and your presentation.
Do your homework. Justifying your reasons and you will most likely see some kind of return for your efforts at serious funding from ASCC.
ASCC will do their best to see that you get your money when it is truly needed and when the most students get the best use out of it.
Make it tough for ASCC to say no by being creative in your presentation. You can easily prove that you and your program's needs are full of hardworking deserving students.
College can be expensive so why shouldn't you benefit from ASCC's generosity, considering that you, as a student, have helped fund ASCC in the first place by paying a fee every year.
Get up, get together and get your Citrus College club or program applying for ASCC funding. You can do it!
