Hollywood Spoofs Visit Performing Art Center

If you like hilarious entertainment, then enter the realm of Forbidden Hollywood, a comical musical variety show containing a bundle of spoofs will occur this Friday at the Haugh Performing Arts Center.
Linda Graves, director of marketing and operations for the Haugh, said Forbidden Hollywood is a musical review and is makes fun of the entertainment capital of the world by spoofing movies.
"The entire show is a bunch of actors and actresses impersonating movies stars," Graves said. "The show should be very funny and will make you laugh the entire night."
The variety show consists of twenty-three sketches, about one hour forty minutes, of actors and actresses entering the stage clearly dressed up as well-known stars. To name a few: Melanie Griffith, Barbra Streisand, Whoopi Goldberg, Humphrey Bogart, Patrick Swayze, Tom Hanks and Marlene Dietrich. Some movies that were spoofed in past performances were 'The Wizard of Oz', 'Titanic', 'Forrest Gump', 'Casablanca', 'Ghost'.
Graves said the creator and writer of Forbidden Hollywood is Gerard Alessandrini.
He is well-known for creating and directing all versions of Forbidden Broadway, in addition to Hollywood, both have been viewed in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and across the globe, Graves said.
Alessandrini created and wrote Forbidden Broadway in 1982. He was the winner of an Obie Award, two Drama Desk awards, an Outer Critics Circle Award, a Lucille Lortel Award for Forbidden Broadway. Also, he was given the Drama League Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theater.
The cast consists of Mark-David Kaplan, Gina Kreiezmar, Lance Roberts, and Whitney Allen. All execute fast-paced costume changes and impersonations of past and present stars of Hollywood.
The central target of Forbidden Hollywood is to create laughter and humor. The cast will be at the Haugh Performing Arts Center this Friday. The show will begin at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $25; however, seniors and students are $23.
